Gwalior fort History
• According to the inscriptions was built in 8th CE &, King Suraj Sen (Suraj Sen Pal) Was the founder of this fort.
• This fort was ruled by 135 kings
• The Pal Kingdom Ruled this fort for a long time, (989 Years, I.e, up to 83 descendants)
• Later Kachchapaghatas Ruled
• Mohammad Ghazni Attacked this fort in 1023 CE & Failed
• Qutb Al-Din Aibak Ruled in the 1196 Year
• 1231 Ghulam Kingdom Iltumish Ruled
• After Iltumish King Devram brought the Thomar Kingdom in Gwalior
• 1398 to 1505 Thomar Kingdom ruled the region
• Maan Singh was popular in the Thomar Kingdom
• 1505 Sikander Lodi Tried To Capture the Fort but failed to defeat Maan Singh
• 1516 Ibrahim Lodi Son Of Sikander Lodi Defeated (Killing) Maan Singh
• Later Mughals Ruled:
• Babur (Mughal Emperor) attacked the Thomar Kingdom & Won The Fort
• In 1542, Babur's Son Humayun was defeated by Sher Shah Suri
• In 1540, Sher Shah Suri was killed by Islam Sha (Delhi Sultanate) Shifted their kingdom From Delhi to Gwalior
• In 1558, Akbar Attacked & Ruled the fort
• After Mughal Rulers, Rana & Zhata Kingdom Ruled
• Then Marathas
• From 1736 to 1756, King Bhim Sinh Rana (Zhata Kingdom) ruled
• In 1779 Marata Chatrap of Sindhya Kul Ruled
• But later East India Company captured the fort from Marata Chatrap
• Middle of 1804 & 1844 British & Sindhya rulers ruled
• In 1844 Sindhya attacked Maharajpur (Sindhya Ruled)
• 1st June 1858 Rani Lakshmi Bai & Maratas Vidrohis Ruled
• 16 June British General announced war on Maratas Vidrohis
• Rani Lakshmi Bai & Maratas Vidrohis were defeated by the Britishers
• Exact after 3 days (Death Of Rani Lakshmi Bai) Britishers Captured the fort.
• Then Britisher handover the Ford to Sindhiya's
• Scindhiya's ruled up to 1947
